Stout is definitely not for everybody or at least not for every day. Prior to today, I’d only had a stout beer on one other occasion, at a bar, on a whim.
Evil Santa
The Virginia Beer Company’s take on stout, Evil Santa, tastes almost exactly the same as the Guinness Stout I remember having over ten years ago. As a non-Stout enthusiast, I would say that Evil Santa might be a bit more bitter and a bit less milky than I remember Guinness Stout. Stout also has a chocolate flavor to it, similar to a porter, with the porter not being nearly as thick.
Final Thought
I would am not the one to recommend any stout as a daily sipper. The milkiness is not attractive to me on any level. I would not buy this in a six-pack either, especially not at $14.99. If you are out on the town at a bar and they have Evil Santa on tap or in a flight I would definitely recommend trying it out. I don’t have the pallet to give a recommendation to a stout drinker but if you are a person who tries things, Evil Santa will not disappoint. I would even recommend paying $3.50 to $4.00 for a single 16-ounce can as I did.
If you have tried Evil Santa or any other stout or have a question, feel free to leave a comment or question below.
