Introduction: PC335A
So, I’ve been kinda fascinated with mechanical keyboards for a while now. I really wanted a Bluetooth keyboard to control my fire stick so I went on Amazon and ordered this random 60% ten keyless board model PC335A. At the time it was about $32 with a $5 off coupon so I grabbed it. The worst thing that could happen is that it doesn’t work. While the keyboard doesn’t work well with the firestick because it does not have a trackpad or arrow keys to navigate around, it is still a decent board with obnoxiously loud clicky keys that I have repurposed to use with my tablet.
Clickiness
This keyboard doesn’t just look cool, it actually has clicky blue switches in it. Blue switches are known to be loud and clicky, so if you are offended by loud typing sounds this is definitely not the keyboard for you. This keyboard is so loud that I want to take it to work to see how many people I can annoy with it.
Connectivity
While this keyboard is extremely small, it has a gang of ways to connect to your favorite device. I personally bought it for its Bluetooth capabilities. It can also be connected via a 2.4ghz USB dongle or the included type C to type A USB cable. One of the few undeniable knocks I have against this board is the limit of only two Bluetooth devices at a time. There is a switch on the left side of the keyboard that allows you to set up and switch between the two devices you want to use with the keyboard. If you want to connect to another device at some point in the future you will lose connectivity to one of the other devices. I suppose this feature will keep you from being actively connected to two devices simultaneously and having the keyboard randomly switch in the middle of typing. I am no expert in responsiveness but in my opinion, this keyboard is as responsive as any keyboard or controller I have ever used, wired or wireless.
Battery Life
At this point, I’ve had the keyboard for about 2 weeks and I have only charged it twice. I initially charged it when I first got it and charged it again a week and a half later. I don’t use it every day, but I have not turned it off since I got it. The one complaint that I have is that there is no battery meter as far as I can tell.
RGB
The RGB lighting is actually pretty cool. It is not the brightest I’ve ever seen but it doesn’t need to be. This keyboard does not have the most RGB effect but the ones it does have are suitable for my uses. It would look cool on a desk in front of a gaming computer or in the living room in your entertainment center.
Gaming
First off, let me just say that I am a controller fanboy, an Xbox controller fanboy to be more specific. I’ve only had one gaming session with this keyboard and I would say the experience is ok. The biggest issue for me is the closeness of the keys. It actually hurts my hand after a short period of time. Most keyboards make my left hand hurt after a while of gaming regardless of the style. You can’t complain about the price, but a palm rest is almost necessary.
I Hate TKL(Ten Keyless)
I like gaming but I do not spend every free moment playing. Gaming keyboards not only look good, are accurate and responsive and they can also function for other tasks. TKL or Ten Keyless is not in my opinion. Imagine trying to fill out a spreadsheet or a form without the number pad, an unnecessary hell. Yeah, I could buy a separate number pad but what is the point?
Final Thoughts
Outside of the TKL feature of this keyboard, I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a small cheap RGB keyboard. While I would never use a small keyboard like this with my desktop computer as I think these little keyboards look crazy on great big desks. The size is perfect for throwing in a backpack and taking it on the go so I wish the manufacturers would make a travel case to store the keyboard in.
